This chapter of our Blog will be dedicated to my dear parents that came to visit us for 7 days. Most of their visit was through a packaged tour with China culture tour. So i don't really know the prices. :)
Zhangjiajie, Hunan
Zhangjiajie City is located in northeast Hunan. The city is located near the UNESCO world heritage site of Wulingyuan that is famous for its breathtaking quartzite sandstone pillars and peaks.
Sleep: first night, before my parents came we slept at a cheap but clean Zhangjiajie Ruguo Inn (68 rmb per night) that is located near the airport. After a night in what booking.com showed as the cheapst option in town, we moved to the upscale Zhangjiajie Pullman Hotel (659 rmb per night)
Bottom line: All the places that we went where really beautiful and unique. The only down side if the huge amount of tourists who visit the park. So there is no real quiet places and you need to stand in really long lines every where but it is still worth it.
Long-Ji, Guangxi
Long-Ji or Longsheng Rice Terraces are located about 100 km north from Guilin. Long-ji (Dragon's backbone) got its name because the summit of the mountain range resembles the backbone of a dragon or so they say.
How did we get there: A flight with Okay Airways from Zhangjiajie airport to Guilin (70$ per person) and then a 2 hour ride to Long-Ji.
Sleep: Long Ji one Art hotel the Deluxe suite (1800 rmb per night) for my parents and the double room (800 rmb per night) for us :). The hotel is a small place that is covered with unique art gathered and placed by the lovely couple who run the place.
Did: because the weather was against us we only stayed in the hotel and enjoyed the view
Bottom line: Go.
Do check before, that the weather is good. Because the view is the most important thing here.
Guilin, Guangxi
Sleep: Sheraton Guilin (659 rmb per night) really nice and located in the center of town.
Eat: Black pepper really nice Indian food.
Did: Elephant trunk hill, visiting the Bamboo, pearl & silk factories-shops, Reed flute cave-really nice Boracade hill-has a nice view of the city and a great slide that takes you down the hill.
Bottom line: Go.

Li River |
Li river on the 20 rmb note |
Yangshuo, Guangxi
How did we get here: From Guilin we bordered on a boat to Yangshuo- "the Li river cruise".
Sleep: Banyan tree Fu-Li-Wow probably the best place to stay in China
Eat: Pure Lotus vegetarian restaurant- overrated and bad service
Did: Walking around Fuli town, Yulong river valley-Really nice walk along the river.
Bottom line: Go and do the Li-river cruise.
